Hello!

We all can dance when we find music that we love.”

― Giles Andreae, Giraffes Can't Dance

This is from my daughter’s favorite books from when she was little, and it's lovely and profound. Children's books have a way of conveying wise thoughts simply. Good Design also achieves this - it conveys amazing experiences in a simple and uncomplicated way.

As a designer, I strive to incorporate the user's voice into my work by understanding people and their world, including their goals and motivations. This helps me design in a way that genuinely makes an impact.

What am I up to now?

I live in the Bay Area and work at Amazon Web Services as a Principal UX Designer. I have built products and services (DeepRacer, DeepLens) to democratize Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, and solved business use cases like intelligent document processing (Amazon Textract), ML powered quality inspection (Amazon Lookout for Vision), empower business users to build genAI applications (Amazon Q for Business), ML image recognition (Amazon Recognition), agentic-AI operational investigations (Amazon Q Developer Operational Investigation), and most recently building the future of observability (Amazon CloudWatch).

Here is my resume.

How did I get here?

After completing my Master's in Human Development, I was ready to find a special education or teaching job and came across a design program. I went on to pursue my second Master's degree in Industrial Design, specializing in Toy Design, at the prestigious National Institute of Design in India. I started my career as a game designer and worked for a few years developing games that hit international markets and, a decade later, are still being sold. I transitioned into the field of mobile technology. I worked as a User Researcher at OnMobile and then as a Senior Interaction Designer at Nokia, where my work reached millions of users worldwide. In 2012, I was hired by Bosch in India to set up the User Experience practice. I helped ramp up the core team, led lighthouse projects, and conducted UX training to establish and strengthen the UX practice. In 2014, I was offered to move to California to join the UX Palo Alto team. After my daughter was born, I took some time off as a full-time mom. I then joined McAfee to lead their UX design team, creating experiences that protect people's digital lives. Since 2020, I have been at AWS, helping shape the future of AI/ML user experiences.
